“Project Blue Sky”

The JAMCO Group is working on the development of products to make aircraft cabins clean and sanitary to help alleviate passengers’ anxiety when flying on aircraft.

◆Aircraft Seats

[Clean Cabin Divider]

This clear divider serves as a barrier that increases passengers’ sense of security and directly prevents the spread of airborne droplets.

For this product, JAMCO is considering the use of transparent materials to ensure visibility and a feeling of openness together with a cost and weight-conscious header design and a method of attachment that does not affect seat reclining.

◆Aircraft Lavatories

[Hands-free Toilet Seat Lid/Seat]

JAMCO is investigating a mechanism that uses a foot pedal to enable toilet lids and seats to be raised and lowered hands-free.

[Hands-free Waste Flap]

JAMCO is also looking into ways to install its foot-pedal operated hands-free waste receptacle flap, already in use on Boeing’s 777s and 787s, in the lavatories of various aircraft.

[Touchless Faucet]

JAMCO’s touchless faucet uses an infrared sensor to enable the flow of water to be turned on by putting one’s hands underneath it and turned off by taking them off. A standard feature in Boeing 787 lavatories, it is also in use on many 777s.

[Electrostatic Disinfection]

JAMCO is also looking into automating the disinfection process of the entire lavatory by spraying liquid disinfectant charged with static electricity. This method will enable a smaller amount of disinfectant to work effectively over a large area and greatly reduce the amount of time spent on cleaning when compared to the regular method of wiping down surfaces.

◆Aircraft Interiors

[UV Disinfection]

Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation deactivates viruses and kills bacteria (disinfects) by destroying the DNA structures in these organisms. As well as for lavatories, JAMCO is looking into its application as a disinfection method for galleys and seats that combines various UV wavelengths and gives thought to the safety of the human body and areas to be irradiated.

“Project Blue Sky”

Recognizing the impact of the spread of COVID-19 on the aviation industry, the JAMCO Group will continue to contribute to society through activities aimed at realizing related solutions, business ideas, products and services that only it can provide.
