JAMCO Corporation, having decided to participate in the establishment of a new company that will carry out aircraft maintenance operations at a facility to be built at Naha Airport in Okinawa, has signed a basic agreement to this effect. The facility will be built in partnership with ANA Holdings Inc. (hereafter ANAHD), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., The Okinawa Development Finance Corporation, Bank of The Ryukyus, Ltd., The Bank of Okinawa, Ltd., The Okinawa Kaiho Bank, Ltd., and The Okinawa Electric Power Company, Inc.

 

With this basic agreement, MRO Japan Co., Ltd. was established today in preparation for the start of operations at Naha Airport in the second half of FY2017 with ANAHD providing 100% of financing. Hereafter, the company will obtain certification related to aircraft maintenance from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and begin operations as MRO Japan Co., Ltd. at Itami Airport (Osaka International Airport) in September of this year. The company will then move to the aircraft maintenance facilities at Naha Airport upon their completion and begin operations, with financing provided by the other participating companies, excluding ANAHD.

 

Based on the high-level skills and know-how related to aircraft and aircraft maintenance that have been developed by the participating companies, MRO Japan will aim to develop a business that contributes to Okinawa’s development and Japan’s economic growth, and that represents the country as a globally active company specializing in aircraft maintenance. The company will take advantage of the prospective expansion in demand for aircraft maintenance accompanying the growth of Asia’s aviation industry, while utilizing local support and the geographical advantage of Naha Airport, which is located in the heart of East Asia. In this context, JAMCO Corporation plans to support the realization of improvements in the quality and productivity of regional and small aircraft maintenance.
